A practical guide to who's hiring across Perth's IT and networking market — grouped by size, focus, pay and how to actually get in front of them.
Most graduates apply to Perth IT jobs the same way regardless of who they're applying to — polish the resume, find the ad, submit through Seek, wait. That works for some employers and is close to useless for others. The single biggest variable isn't your CV. It's the size of the company on the other end. Big organisations and boutique shops are structured differently, and that structure decides how a hiring decision actually gets made. Get that mismatch right and a cold approach can land you an interview.
Tier 03 — Boutique & small
Under 20 staff. No HR layer — the owner makes the hiring call, often on the spot. A walk-in genuinely works: bring a printed resume, ask for the owner by name, and follow up within the week.

Tier 02 — Mid-size MSP
Established Perth and national MSPs, structured enough to have real process, small enough to still be seen. A website/Seek listing plus a direct LinkedIn message to the technical lead works well here.

Tier 01 — Multinational & govt panel
Global integrators and WA Government panel suppliers. Graduate programs with funded certifications, but expect a long, well-defined process — careers pages and Seek/LinkedIn ads are the main door in.

Every tier needs a different application method — and pays and grows differently once you're in.
Global integrators & WA Gov panel suppliers. Structured, competitive, deep.
Established Perth & national MSPs. Structured enough, small enough to be seen.
Under 20 staff. No HR layer — the owner makes the call, often on the spot.
Global system integrators and firms pre-approved on the WA Government's technology panel (CUATIS2024). A global integrator doesn't sell one product — it stitches together multiple vendors' technologies into one solution, and holds direct, accredited partner status (Cisco Gold, Microsoft Solutions Partner, AWS Premier) that gives staff vendor training, dedicated support, and structured certification pathways.
A mid-size MSP runs the full IT stack for a portfolio of client businesses instead of one huge integrated environment. Fewer vendor partnerships than a global integrator, but enough to be credible — Microsoft, Fortinet, Cisco, Veeam are common.
A small shop is a generalist operation — one team covering everything a local small business needs. There's rarely a dedicated network or security specialist; whoever's free handles whatever's broken. Vendor relationships exist as a reseller, not as an accredited integration partner.

Every tier above is still filtering for the same thing: can you actually rack, cable, configure and troubleshoot real Cisco gear, not just recite it for an exam. That's the gap most CCNA study paths leave open — and it's the whole reason the Network Accelerator Program exists. Face-to-face, hands-on, on real equipment, until it clicks. Free retakes included.
